Flexible Degree Options
Once you successfully apply and transfer to second year studies at UM, you will have the opportunity to choose from a variety of degree programs in different faculties.
This may include three-year general degrees and four-year major, advanced and honours degrees, many with Co-op options!

Three-year general degrees
Three-year general degrees are 90-credit hour bachelor’s degree programs offering a broader education with fewer higher-level courses. Students who graduate with a three-year general degree in any field can be eligible to apply for a Post-Graduation Work Permit.
General degrees available at UM:
- Faculty of Arts: Psychology, Economics, Film Studies, Criminology and more
- Faculty of Environment, Earth, and Resources: Earth Sciences, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Geography
- Faculty of Science: General BSc with a 4-month or 8-month paid internship option

- Graduate earlier: Earn a general degree from a U15 university in three years
- Less tuition and living costs: Save one year of tuition and living expenses
- PGWP eligible: Graduates can be eligible to apply for the Post-Graduation Work Permit in any field
Four-year major, advanced and honours degrees
The four-year major, advanced or honours degrees are 120-credit hour* bachelor’s degree programs.
Many four-year degree programs offer a Co-op option to gain work experience as part of your studies. Students who graduate with a degree in any field can be eligible to apply for a Post-Graduation Work Permit.

Students planning to apply for a graduate program are recommended to complete an honours degree and certain career paths or industry designations may require a four-year degree. Helpful career planning tools include the University of Manitoba’s Career Compass and the Explore Occupations page!
*The degree programs in the Price Faculty of Engineering require 153.5-167 credit hours.
