First day of class
Here’s what you need to know before your first day of classes!
Ensure your personal email address up to date
You will be contacted by ICM through email with important information about your next steps using the personal email address provided on your application form.
If you are unsure which email address you used on your application, it will also be on your signed Acceptance of Offer. If you need to update your email address, please contact us immediately.
Step 1: Login to your Student Portal.
Step 2: Check your timetable on your Student Portal to confirm your class days and times.
Step 3: Refer to the building name and room number shown in your timetable for each class. Tour the UM campus virtually to help prepare you for how to find your way around using the Virtual 360° Tour available online. A fully-accessible simplified format of our virtual tour, optimized for assistive technologies and slower internet connections, is also available.
Students in UTP Stage I have e-textbooks included as part of their fees.
Students in UTP Stage II will often be required to purchase digital or sometimes hardcopy textbooks and other learning materials for their courses. Some required learning resources may be available for free online as well.
Students will get information specific to each of the courses they have enroled in from their instructor during their first class of the course. If you have any questions, check with your instructor directly.
Check your course outline on Moodle or connect with your instructor for details.
Your student ID card, which has your photograph on it, is your access key to many UM and student services. You can request your student ID card in person on campus.
How to get your student ID card in person
You can apply for and collect your student ID card in person at the ID Centre in the Registrar’s Office (400 UMSU University Centre) during regular business hours.
You must bring your passport and study permit. Please also bring your 7 Digit UM Student Number if available.
To find the requested “7 Digit UM Student Number,” log into your Student Portal, then go to Student Resources > Student Profile and you’ll see it under “UNI NO” on this page. Your UNI NO (UM student number) will be seven digits. If you do not see a number on your profile, please check back after the first week of classes.
For a helpful list of the recommended minimum technology requirements to access our digital campus, open your Student Portal. Under Student Resources select Documents and then open the folder Academic Information.
