Student leadership opportunities

You can complement your academic learning with real-life teamwork and leadership experiences.

Being an ICM Student Leader is a fulfilling experience. You can be part of any of the five ICM student leadership groups, which offer the fastest way to gain valuable real-life volunteer experience.  

Social Committee
The Social Committee plans, promotes and leads fun, interactive activities that bring our ICM community together to get to know each other, network, and create lasting memories. Leaders in this group enjoy creating initiatives to engage others. Students must have completed at least one term at ICM to be eligible to apply.

Cultural Ambassadors
Cultural Ambassadors facilitate initiatives to promote values of equity, diversity, inclusion, and multiculturalism at ICM. Leaders in this group are passionate about promoting culture cross-sharing and mutual respect of diverse identities. Students must have completed at least one term at ICM to be eligible to apply.

Marketing Influencers
Marketing Influencers design, promote and lead events and campaigns to showcase ICM to future and prospective students. Leaders in this group are interested in content creation, marketing strategies and sharing their experience about what its like to attend ICM and the University of Manitoba and living in Winnipeg. Students must have completed at least one term at ICM to be eligible to apply.

Peer Advising
Peer Advisors provide support to help ICM students settle into campus and community life. They provide one-on-one mentorship amongst other services to students. Leaders in this group are familiar with academic, campus and community resources and are passionate about helping other students navigate life as an international student and in overcoming common barriers. Students must have completed at least one term at ICM studying in-person to be eligible to apply.

Peer Education
Peer Educators design educational resources and provide one-on-one tutoring support to help students excel in their courses. Leaders in this group are academically proficient in various courses and are passionate about educating others. Eligibility criteria includes having completed at least one term at ICM and a minimum B+ average grade point. If selected, you will be given conditional acceptance until your final grades for the current term are released.
