What to know about living on campus

Meal plans and on-campus dining

There’s a large selection of food and beverage options available across the UM campus, whatever your dietary needs and preferences. All accommodation packages include a mandatory meal plan year-round with St John’s College Residence and St. Andrew’s College Residence, and the UM student residences during the Fall/Winter academic year. Meal plans are a convenient way to have access to nutritious meals on campus, saving time and money for students. While cooking is not allowed in residence rooms for safety reasons, residences often have student kitchen facilities.

Residence application and payment

If you choose to live on campus, you need to apply to your residence option separately from your application to ICM. All payments associated with residence are directly paid to your residence account, and not to ICM.

Residence move-in dates

Student residences will publish their move-in dates on their website. Students should plan to arrive in time to join Orientation. If you need to apply for early move-in, please contact the residence office to discuss the possible options.  Be sure to communicate with your accommodation provider directly to coordinate your move-in date and time. If needed, temporary accommodation options including hotels are also available near campus.
