On-Campus Dining: U of M Dining Services

U of M Dining Services offers a large selection of food and beverage items at various locations across the Fort Garry campus. All students in U of M Residence must have a meal plan as cooking in residence rooms is not allowed for safety reasons.

Whether you are a vegetarian or vegan, have a dairy or gluten intolerance, or simply enjoy Halal meats, the U of M Residence Dining Hall has something for everyone to enjoy. Check out the Meal Membership options here.

Off-campus homestay

For many students, the opportunity to stay with a Canadian family, off-campus and in the community, offers special appeal. As a homestay student, you will have the chance to be a part of a family, taking part in family activities and celebrating special occasions.

All families are within commuting distance from ICM. Homestay includes three meals per day, a bedroom, internet access and local phone calls. Homestay is a great option for those students who may not be 18 when arriving in Winnipeg and will require a Custodian.

There are 2 different Homestay providers that ICM works with, the University of Manitoba homestay program and Polar Trails homestay program.

Hotel Royal Plaza

Hotel Royal Plaza is another alternative for students looking to live in residence that may not receive a room for the upcoming semester. Hotel Royal Plaza has converted hotel rooms into dorm rooms for students studying in Winnipeg. It is located in downtown Winnipeg, about a 35 minute bus ride from the hotel to the U of M campus. Students can choose between single or shared rooms, and each room comes with their own bathroom. Students also have the ability to choose whether they would like a meal plan or not with their room rates.
